CCDS Completes Quinn Family Symposium Cycle

Over the course of the 2024-2025 academic year, The Center for Catholic and Dominican Studies successfully hosted four Quinn symposia featuring prominent intellectuals from around the country. On September 5, the CCDS hosted Paolo Carozza, J.D. (University of Notre Dame) for the St. Thomas Aquinas Symposium on Philosophy and Theology. His theme was “What is a Catholic University?” On February 10, Dr. Thomas Smith (Catholic University of America) and Dr. Anna Bonta Moreland (Villanova University) presented the St. Catherine of Siena Symposium on Spirituality and the Frontiers of Evangelization. They presented the “Leisure” chapter of their new book, The Young Adult Playbook: Living Like it Matters. On March 28, Dr. Mary Hirschfeld (University of Notre Dame) led the St. Joseph Symposium on History, Justice, and Peace. The theme was “The Meaning of Work in an Affluent Society.” Finally, Dr. Jonathan Buttaci (Catholic University of America) led the St. Albert the Great Symposium on Faith, Reason, and Science using Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry’s The Little Prince. His theme was “The Promises and Perils of Growing Up.”
